Lost jobs to be regained in five years

The Catalan labour market could return to pre-crisis levels in five years, according to a new report. The document estimates that over 80,000 jobs could be created in Catalonia in 2017, representing an annual growth of 2.5% in employment. If the employment rate remains at about 2% per year, the almost 3.6 million jobs that existed in 2007 would be recovered by 2022, the report said. In fact, the Catalan government estimates growth of 2.2% and 69,000 new jobs for the current year.
