Miró foundation to get overhaul

The artistic world has changed a lot since the Fundació Miró opened, according to the foundation's director, Rosa Maria Malet. As a result, Malet and her team are rethinking the Barcelona institution dedicated to the legacy of Joan Miró. A first step is the integration of new works belonging to Miró's descendents, timed to coincide with the foundation's 40th anniversary celebrations beginning on June 10. The arrival of a part of the Miró family archive will lead to an overhaul of the permanent exhibition as well as affecting the centre's future activities. When Miró created his foundation, he was clear that he should not be the only figure to feature, thus the centre's epigraph of Centre d'Estudis d'Art Contemporani. As part of the overhaul, the focus on other artists will be emphasised.
