However, the former SNP leader's words have unleashed criticism in political circles, which say his pledge is “deeply sinister” and an attempt to “sabotage” the will of the UK electorate. The SNP could win 43 of Scotland's 59 seats, making it the third-largest party in Westminster, say recent polls.
