Bankia liability deposit dropped from 800 to 34 million euros

Spains' national high court, the Audiència Nacional, yesterday decided to reduce the funds that Bankia was ordered deposit to cover potential liabilities related to the bank's public listing from 800 million euros to 34 million. Among the four state-owned bank executives is Rodrigo Rato, who is under investigation. The new amount takes into account a different way of calculating the money lost by small investors. Bankia deposited the 800 million euros in March, with the beginning of proceedings against the former president and the three other executives set for Monday.
