Comedy of errors at 2017 Oscar ceremony
An absurd mistake will ensure the 2017 Academy Awards will be remembered. With the producers of La La Land on stage in mid-acceptance speed for the Oscar for Best Film announced by actors Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway, it became clear that the real winner was the film Moonlight. The protagonists of Bonnie & Clyde had been mistakenly handed an envelope for the winner of Best Actress, Emma Stone for her role in La La Land . Dunaway read it out, making it seem as if La La Land had won. The error lies at the door of the PwC firm, which receives and collates the results. The company yesterday apologised for the mistake and pledged to conduct an investigation into the cause of the error.
