Mendoza awarded Cervantes literature prize

Eduardo Mendoza was yesterday awarded by the king the annual Cervantes prize in the Alcalá de Henares university. The prize is Spain's highest award given to writers in the Spanish language, and comes with 125,000 euros. Mendoza was born in Barcelona in 1943, and is the author of books such as La ciudad de los prodigios, La verdad sobre el caso Savolta and Sin noticias de Gurb.
