Showdown between Macron and Le Pen

Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen, one a progressive centrist and the other from the far right, will contest the Presidency of France. With 24% and 22% of the votes, respectively, both passed the first round in the race for the Elysee, which is to be held in two weeks, on May 7. The Republican François Fillon and the leftist candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon, tied at 3rd place(between 19% and 20%), leaving the socialist Benoît Hamon far behind, (7%), confirming the death of French socialism. If there are no unexpected developments in the remaining two weeks of campaigning, Macron should be the next President of the Republic, as he could attract votes from all factions apart from the National Front.
