Festive calendar affects job figures for first quarter

Some observers, such as the portal Infojobs, tried to downplay the rise in first quarter unemployment figures yesterday, attributing it to the Easter break being in April. Survey data reflect the worst quarter since the start of 2013 and a second consecutive quarter of job losses. Annual data were less negative, however, as compared to the first quarter of last year, unemployment was down 12.62%.
