The designers we feature here are all local but have a global vision and reach
I doubt few would ever class Chanel as part of the Slow movement, but in their Métiers d'Art collection last year the garments were made of either wood, paper or straw. As fashion guru Karl Lagerfeld commented: “At the moment, sustainability is part of an expression of our times.” It has happened, Slow is here, and it is here to stay. But Slow is much more than sustainability, it is a far reaching concept and a change of focus. In fashion it connects designer and the buyer, it means listening and reacting to the market. It does not mean abandoning the excitement and flare at all, in fact it has a unique thrill of its own. One of those is the new life it breathes into the local industry and its proximity to the client. That is why this year, Catalan Chic has decided to Go Slow and Go Local in its coverage of 2017's spring/summer tendencies. The designers we feature here are all local but have a global vision and reach. Their interpretation of Slow is individual but the outcome of their efforts means that we are the focus.
