Call for help for “abstinent paedophiles”

The Social Work and Social Services Institute (Intress) has called for a prevention programme for paedophiles who have not abused any minor, known as “abstinent paedophiles”, to “prevent them taking the step of committing the crime.” Intress estimates that 1% of men may “fit within the diagnostic criteria for paedophilia” but “not all end up abusing children and young people.”
