Generalitat wants to get rid of IRPH mortgage index
The Catalan Government’s Minister for Enterprise, Jordi Baiget, is to request that Spanish Economy Minister Luis de Guindos replace the IRPH (Mortgage Loan Reference Index) as a reference for mortgages in favour of the Euribor. The Government believes that the IRPH is susceptible to influence by the financial institutions, mainly because they provide the data for its calculation.
