LONDON ATTACK

Mosque terrorist unemployed man with alcohol problems

As police continue their search for evidence in the Cardiff flat where the Finsbury Park mosque attacker lived, more information continues to emerge about his broken life. Darren Osborne, a 47-year-old white British man, ran over a crowd of Muslims in a copycat attack to the latest London atrocities. He killed one person and hurt ten more, with two of them still in critical condition.

Osborne was born in Singapore but grew up in Weston-super-Mare, a town in south-west England, before moving to a suburb of Cardiff with his wife and four children two years ago. He studied computer science and had worked as a mechanic, but has been unemployed for some time. Osborne has been described by some of those who knew him as a “damn psychopath”. He spent the day drinking in neighbourhood pubs and was known as “mister moody” because he always got drunk and ended up in a fight with someone. But no one expected him to do what he did.

After his wife left him six months ago, he isolated himself and went to live in the woods in a tent, spending most of his time drinking beer and not talking to anyone.

Osborne is thought to have been radicalised by the London bridge attack. His mother yesterday apologised for her son’s actions.
