Pyongyang’s nuclear tests provoke storm

Ignoring international sanctions and repeated warnings, North Korea carried out its 6th nuclear bomb test on Sunday, this time with a hydrogen bomb, which government officials termed a “compete success”. The warhead can be adapted to be used on an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching the US. Donald Trump immediately called for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the development. Strong criticism also came for North Korea’s only ally, the Republic of China, as well as Russia. A joint statement was also issued by the French and German governments. The blast was strong enough to be felt in neighbouring China and registered 6.3 on the Richter Scale.
