Guaranteed income to reach 68,000 homes
The guaranteed citizen income is the benefit allowance that has been created to ensure that no one lives below the poverty line in Catalonia. It comes into effect this Friday. Beneficiaries will receive a monthly income of €564 linked to a job placement or social inclusion plan. There will be complementary amounts according to the number of family members dependant on the beneficiary. 28,000 people receive the allowance, although it is calculated that the figure will rise to 68,000 by 2020.
