Russia and China agree to North Korea sanctions

The UN Security Council has unanimously agreed to impose a harsher package of sanctions on North Korea as a response to its nuclear and ballistic programmes. The vote was settled with 15 votes in favour and none against and means restrictions on imports of petroleum to North Korea and the prohibition of textile exports and the hiring of North Korean workers abroad. This is the ninth such resolution since 2006, with the US toning down the document to gain support from China and Russia.
