Euro-MPs call on Rajoy to stop repressive action

International support for the October 1 referendum is growing. A group of 48 MEPs from six political parties and 18 EU members states yesterday called on Spanish prime minister Mariano Rajoy to “immediately stop” repressive action against Catalonia and to begin “political dialogue”. In a letter promoted by the pro-independence ERC and PDeCAT parties, the MEPs say they see the referendum as “a legitimate political claim” and they point out that the Catalan situation has reached a “critical point”.
