Unions have doubts over second strike

Only one day remains until the general strike called by the Intersindical CSC union and there are doubts over the level of participation. Both the Òmnium and ANC civic organisations backed the strike as a protest over the persecution of Catalan officials. Yet both the CCOO and UGT trades unions have expressed doubts over repeating the formula of bringing the country to standstill, as on October 3, when a general strike protested the police brutality during the October 1 referendum. CCOO spokeswoman, Dolors Llobet, says “there has to be another way to show our rejection without taking the protests into companies.” Both unions support joining the demonstrations but not the strike.
