One woman, two lives

Claudia Poblete had another life until she was 21 years old. That was when she discovered that her parents had deceived her. Then she began to understand that the dates did not fit and that the distant relationship with those who she thought were her parents was more than just adolescence. She discovered her real grandmother after many years of looking for her, with the support of the Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo. The Conquest of the South Pole returns to the TNC (which began the documentary trilogy with the testimony of another brave woman, Nadia Ghulam, who was made to pass as a man, hiding her identity for years as a mother in the Taliban time in Afghanistan). Now the series continues and focuses on Claudia, but only until December 10. Her true story is captured by the maker of the videos (Eugenio Szwarcer) and the director (Carlos Fernández Giua) who admits that “we have been very lucky” to find a life like this. It was in fact Claudia Poblete’s desire to reveal her case publicly (she thought about writing it as a book.) The work, which was released in 2016, has made a remarkable tour of Catalonia and, a few days ago, was scheduled for the first time in Belgium. The impact was both stronger than usual.
