Catalonia’s oldest living woman dies at 116 years of age

Her heart stopped at 4.30 in the morning after being beating continuously for 116 years and 46 days. Ana Vela, Catalonia’s oldest women, died yesterday at the La Verneda residence, a centre run by the Health and Community Foundation, where she has lived since 2008. Over the years she enjoyed good health, despite the logical wear and tear of the years. “Ana died in her sleep and did not suffer,” said the residence manager David González. She is survived by one of her four children, a daughter, aged 90.
