Smallest village in Catalonia has just 27 inhabitants

Gisclareny (Berguedà) has pushed Sant Jaume de Frontanyà off its perch as the town with fewest inhabitants in Catalonia, according to the 2017 municipal census. Gisclareny currently has 27 inhabitants, made up of 15 men and 12 women, two fewer than in 2016, whereas Sant Jaume de Frontanyà has added three more to reach 30. The village covers an area of 36.4 km² and has one restaurant, a country house and a Romanesque church. Its population fell from 225 in 1900 to 21 by 1981.
