Rental prices have increased by 49% since 2013

The average rental price in Catalonia has gone up 49% in the last four years, according to a study by the real estate portal Fotocasa, and has now reached €991 per month. In 2013, renters paid €8.33 per square metre and that has risen to €12.39. Translated into monthly averages the figure in 2013 was €666 per month. In Catalonia Gava has recorded the highest increase at 67%, followed by Barcelona (48%), Sant Cugat del Vallès (42%), Castelldefels (45%). The rise has not been as steep in other parts of Spain with a state-wide average increase of 18%.
