Attacks continue in East Ghouta despite ceasefire

The Syrian army continues to shell East Ghouta, an area on the outskirts of Damascus, at present in the hands of Islamist rebel groups. In just one week 500 civilians have died in the Bashar-al-Assad offensive in an area where it is estimated that more than 400,000 people are trapped. A few hours after the UN Security Council approved a cease-fire, the bombing began again.
