Securities Commission fines CaixBank

Spain’s National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) has fined CaixBank €5 million for having paid incentives in operations involving collective investments which is forbidden under banking regukations. The Securities Commision detected the anomaly in a routine inspection in 2014 and classed the practise as “very serious”, and warranting a fine. The bank has appealed the sanction.
