NY police shoot man pointing metal tube

Three New York police officers shot dead an Afro-American man on Wednesday night in Brooklyn after he pointed a metal tube at them that they mistook for a gun. The policemen fired 10 shots. A spokesperson said that police had received several emergency calls from neighbours reporting that a man in the areas was pointing a gun at pedestrians. “When we found him, he turned and pointed what looked like a gun at the officers,” he said. A video posted on social networks showed a group of people after the shooting shouting “oppressors” at agents who were on the other side of a police cordon. The Brooklyn death occurs after other African Americans were killed by police recently, the last one in Sacramento, has triggered protests in a number of different states. The NYPD is investigating but said that nearby storefront videos showed a man with an object resembling a gun.
