Amnesty International highlighted in its annual report on the death penalty that sub-Saharan Africa has made great steps in the global fight for the abolition of capital punishment, with a considerable decrease in the number of death sentences throughout the region, where there has been constant legislative initiatives regarding this issue. AI says this reflects a positive trend world-wide.
