Senate leader to mediate in discussions
Italian President Sergio Mattarella on Wednesday asked the head of the Senate to meet party leaders to see if she can break the deadlock following the elections, in what immediately appeared a near-hopeless task. The euro zone’s third-largest economy has been under a caretaker government since March 4 polls, when anti-establishment and far-right parties were the big winners.
