Montoro puts Llarena in tight spot

Cristobal Montoro is on the way to becoming one of the defence witnesses in the case of the process for independence. With judge Pablo Llarena charging the accused with rebellion and also misuse of public moneys, he has now asked the Minister of Finance for explanations as to why the Government affirms that not a “single euro” of public money was spent on the October independence referendum. Llarena believes otherwise, and has reminded Montoro that his claims “contradict the evidence collected,” by the judicial investigation.

The Supreme Court judge has therefore demanded that Montoro report to his court “as soon as possible” regarding which “objective” facts he bases his claims on.
