Air-traffic controllers to strike in June

Yesterday’s vote by air-traffic controllers at the El Prat airport saw 89% approve the proposal to go on strike as from June 20 on 24 hour per day protests which have yet to be timetabled. The workers are demanding more staff to cope with the increased workload as air activity is growing every month, forcing many of them to work for long periods of overtime. Catering staff at the airport are presently on strike in protest against their new contract and several airport eateries are now closed in both terminals.
