Sismògraf turns Olot into capital of dance

Olot became the capital of dance this weekend as it hosts the Sismògraf dance festival. The city welcomed the most innovative dance projects around, with 27 performances this year, eight of which are premieres and five co-productions. While the festival has no specific thematic focus, many of the performances show a high awareness of current political and social issues, such as the refugee crisis or the question of gender equality.

Among the projects at the festival is ‘Labranza Kids’, the result of workshops with local children from the Colectivo LaMajara, and ‘La mesura del detall’, by Magí Serra, on at the Sala El Torín. On an international level, the French Compagnie Didier Théron presents the shows ‘Air’ and ‘La Grande Phrase’ on the streets of Olot. Then there is ‘SismoHop’, an urban culture event, while five dance companies present adapted shows in the town’s Parc Nou.
