Junker breaks his silence and asks for dialogue

The president of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, yesterday renewed calls for dialogue after months of silence on the Catalan issue from the EU executive. “I would like to have seen dialogue,” he admitted in front of the Flemish Parliament where several MPs, especially the nationalist N-VA, have reproached his silence regarding the violation of fundamental rights in Spain. He also said that if there was a request, he would be happy to meet with the new president, but it would “depend on what the President wanted to talk about.”
