RCR’s Dream and Nature unveiled

RCR Arquitectes, the trio of Catalan architects that won the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2017, yesterday unveiled their design for the Catalan pavilion at the 16th Biennale Architecture Exhibition in Venice. Dream and Nature, by Rafael Aranda, Carme Pigem and Ramon Vilalta, was commissioned by the Ramon Llull Institute, which promotes Catalan culture abroad.

The design provides an immersive vision of the professional universe of the three architects, as it is based on the research space they have planned in the La Vila estate in the Bianya Valley. That project aims to rethink our relationship with nature. “The three are architects, but we like to say that they are really philosophers,” Pati Núñez said yesterday, one of the exhibition’s curators, alongside Estel Ortega. The exhibition will be open to the public from May 26, and will run until November 25.
