Calvet considering use of a flat-rate for Catalan toll roads
Catalonia’s Minister of Territory and Sustainability, Damià Calvet, does not rule out imposing a flat rate for drivers that would replace the tolls. The initial phase would only be applicable on roads administered by the Generalitat in the case that the Spanish government does not wish, as has been the case so far, to introduce it on State-run motorways. Calvet however, did express his desire that such a toll system could be implemented on all toll roads in Catalonia. The measure is obviously a revolutionary proposal and is under study by a number of relevant authorities.
