Disturbances in Nantes after death of youth
Violence broke out in three suburbs in the French city of Nantes on Tuesday night after a 22 year-old man was shot dead by police in a routine vehicle control. According to police, the youth refused to stop and reversed to escape, injuring a police officer. One of his companions fired and hit the driver, who died two hours later in hospital. Cars and buildings were set alight in the disturbances.
