Girona pays tribute to Valentí Fargnoli
Girona is to commemorate photographer Valentí Fargnoli, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of his death. Throughout the year a number of events are planned to let people learn more about a figure who documented so much of the local area. Everything begins on April 7, the anniversary of Fargnoli’s death, with the opening of an exhibition about the photographer, featuring some of his images.
At the same time, Girona’s Centre of Research and Diffusion of the Image (CRDI) has signed an agreement with the Amatller Foundation to digitalise some 2,138 of Fargnoli’s images, which will be made available online for anyone to download. According to the CRDI head, Joan Boadas, the agreement comes on the back of over two years research, which ended up with the Amatller Foundation taking possession of Adolf Mas’ collection of Fargnoli’s images, which Mas had commissioned him to take.
