More children of immigrants fail secondary school

Children born in Catalonia to foreigners get worse results in secondary school (ESO) than the offspring of native parents. That is according to a study from the Centre of Demographic Studies at Barcelona’s Autonomous University (UAB). The study shows that 17.3% of children born to foreign parents in Catalonia and 29.2% of immigrant children do not pass ESO, while the number of native children who fail stands at 10.3%. The researchers who carried out the study called the figures “unsustainable”.
