Cage and Harris, due at 51st Sitges festival

US actors Nicolas Cage and Ed Harris, along with cult filmmaker John Carpenter, will be the main guests at the 51st edition of the Sitges Film Festival, from October 4 to 14. On announcing the news yesterday, the event’s director, Àngel Sala, promised: “It will be a magnificent edition.”

Carpenter, the director of Halloween and The Thing, “is probably the best genre director for many years,” according to Sala, who said the filmmaker will be at the festival on October 13.

Sala also expressed satisfaction at the attendance of Cage and Harris. The former will be at the festival to present his film, Mandy, the story of a man on the trail of the members of a sect who murdered the love of his life, and will receive an honorary prize.

Harris will get the same prize. The star of The Abyss and Apollo 13 “is an actor of character, who is different and with a powerful presence,” according to Sala.
