Wildfire near Roses raises the alarm
A wildfire took hold yesterday near Roses, and was only brought under control in the evening after firefighters battled for three hours. When this newspaper went to print, firefighters were still working to completely extinguish it. Some 9.6 hectares of brush were affected in the Cap de Creus natural park.
Two of the fire’s four focal points were located near to the main road from Roses to Cadaqués (GI-614), which was closed all afternoon. This led to traffic delays between the two towns and also with Port de la Selva, all important tourist destinations on the Costa Brava. Access to Canyelles, l’Almadrava, and the Jòncols and Montjoi coves was also affected, also all places popular with holidaymakers in the summer.
