Seasonality hits employment figures in August
According to data from the Spanish Ministry of Employment and Social Security, the number of unemployed registered in Catalonia increased by 11,594 to 380,718 in August. This is the most severe increase in absolute figures for the eighth month of the year in the last seven years. The increase in August breaks a six-month continuous decline in monthly unemployment figures, which in year-on-year terms represents sixty-two consecutive months of declines in the number of unemployed.
