Barcelona host Girona in Catalan derby

Barcelona welcome Girona to Camp Nou today for a Catalan derby on the back of a 4-0 drubbing of PSV in the Champions League during the week. Yet, with Barcelona in three competitions, and a trip to Leganés coming up on Wednesday, coach Ernesto Valverde will likely rest some players who have played every game so far, such as Jordi Alba. While they are still finding their feet (they went behind at Real Sociedad last weekend), Barcelona are at home with a 100% win record this season, and so will be confident about extending their winning run to keep Real Madrid at bay.

While their start has not been so impressive, Girona have had a good start to the season and come to Camp Nou after back-to-back victories. Girona, under new coach, Eusebio Sacristán, showed real character against in-form Celta Vigo last week, winning 3-2, which came a week after they managed a 1-0 win away at Villarreal.
