Two exhibitions honour the vote

The Delegation of the Generalitat in the European Union was the venue for the opening of the Octubre 1 exhibition, which includes a collection of photographs and front pages from Catalan, Spanish and international newspapers. The aim of the exhibition is to present what happened in the referendum on self-determination held in Catalonia a year ago, paying special attention to how it developed and how it was explained in the media.

The exhibition 55 urnes per la llibertat also opened yesterday, in this case at the Arts Santa Mònica in Barcelona. The exhibition proposes to present the work of 55 artists who offer an interpretation of the 2017 referendum without ignoring “their commitment in defence of freedom and democracy,” according to the organisers. The artists created their pieces using ballot boxes from October 1 in any way they saw fit. The exhibition has already been seen in Perpignan and Brussels.
