Local councils contribute most to third sector

16% of the funding received by social organisations comes from local sources, with town councils contributing the most, far more than provincial and county councils. Contributions are not always in the form of monetary aid, however, as local councils also regularly provide spaces for social bodies to organise their activities. The areas funded most are free-time education and psychosocial care. Social organisations tend to consolidate their budgets after five years, although 24% currently have a deficit.
