Slovenian president criticises Spain’s ignorance

Spain’s descriptions of the “Slovenian way” as violent did not go down well in Slovenia. The president, Milan Kucan, believes that their “peaceful exercise of the right to self-determination” can be “a good example” for Catalonia. “The Slovenian route was extremely peaceful,” he says and recalls that the war broke out when the Yugoslav federal army attacked the country after the proclamation of independence in June 1991.
