Public prosecutor charges Shakira with tax evasion

Colombian pop star Shakira has been charged with tax evasion by Barcelona prosecutors. Yesterday, prosecutors alleged she failed to pay more than €14.5 m in taxes between 2012 and 2014. While Shakira had listed the tax haven of Bahamas as her official residence during those years, she was actually living in Spain with her partner, FC Barcelona player Gerard Piqué, with whom she has two children. The prosecution alleges she briefly travelled abroad for professional commitments, but lived most of the time in Spain.
