Fines for websites that promote food disorders

The Catalan government has announced that websites promoting food disorders such as anorexia or bulimia are to face fines of up to €100,000. The Consumer Code of Catalonia was modified yesterday to allow the sanctioning of digital companies, platforms or services that do not remove apologist web pages or blogs for eating disorders. Over the last eight years there has been a growth in content promoting anorexia and bulimia, with 12.8 million results detected in 0.48 seconds in a 2018 search.
