Rivera’s Spanish election campaign is all about Catalonia

A campaign for the Spanish presidency, with the Catalan independence question at the heart of its platform, whilst the trial of the Catalan politicians is ongoing. This is the statement of intent from Albert Rivera and Ines Arrimadas, the Spanish and Catalan leaders of the Ciudadanos party. At a carefully orchestrated first campaign event yesterday, intentionally held in the hometown of Carles Puigdemont, Amer, Rivera said the elections called this week will gravitate around the question of who is “weak enough to pardon the independence movement”.
