Barcelona closes down 4,900 illegal tourist flats

Barcelona has seen a drastic fall in the number of illegal tourist flats, after the city council ordered the closure of 4,900 flats, some 95% of the total. Only 272 ads for flats without licences remain on the internet. The council has confirmed that some 1,171 flats that operated illegally have either now been legally rented out or occupied by their owners.
