Flag bias
If all symbols which could be considered partisan must be removed from government buildings during the campaign, the Spanish flag ought to be removed from the facade of the Generalitat. Unionism associates the yellow ribbon with certain parties and pro-independence supporters associate the rojigualda with others. If the ribbons represent the cry for freedom of political prisoners, the Spanish flag means the opposite. The real victim is freedom of expression. Ciudadanos live for this war of symbols, encouraged by an electoral junta including magistrates who are judging the independence movement in the Supreme court. If they really cared about ribbons, they would have banned them from councils too.
