Cap Roig

The stars are out again

The nights in the Cap Roig festival have always been full of stars, with big names from the national and international music scene. The pandemic forced the festival held in Calella de Palafrugell’s Botanical Gardens to be suspended last year, but this summer the stars are back, albeit most are from closer to home as the big international tours are still under some restrictions.

Nevertheless, it will be a very intense month from July 23 to August 21, as the festival organised by Clipper’s Live with the support of CaixaBank has 22 concerts scheduled. A few of the concerts even sold out early on, specifically the performances by Els Amics de les Arts, Sopa de Cabra, Blaumut, El Pot Petit, Estopa, Aitana and Morat.

Spanish pop star Pablo López will open the festival on Friday July 23, followed the next day by one of the classic acts of Spanish music, Raphael, who is saying farewell to the stage on his final tour, with another veteran of Spanish music, José Luis Perales, performing on August 6.

As for the international contingent, Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flórez will perform on July 31, with the spectacular Lebanese violinist Ara Malikian on August 5, two days after British singer-songwriter Passenger makes his return to Cap Roig. Other acts returning to the festival are Taburete, Hombres G, Antonio Orozco, David Bisbal and Sílvia Pérez Cruz, who is from Palafrugell. Pop-rock will be represented this year by Love of Lesbian on August 11, while the magic will be provided by Mag Lari on August 15. Sara Baras will bring the festival to a close on Saturday August 21.
