Squid season in Arenys de Mar

Nutritious and versatile, the seaside town celebrates its seafood delicacy

This highly appreciated and top quality cephalopod is typical of Arenys de Mar. The squid fishing season begins at the end of September, coinciding with a gastronomic festival in the seaside town dedicated to this seafood that lasts until December. Squid, rich in iodine, calcium and phosphorus, has many and varied culinary possibilities, from the simple classic squid fried in batter a la romana to squid stuffed with a variety of ingredients, from meat to mushrooms and vegetables. Arenys squid is sold in the town’s market and can be found in fishmongers throughout the local area. In addition, during the month of October, you can try the local delicacy in restaurants participating in the food festival throughout the region.
