Catalonia, country of festivals

Every year, Catalonia becomes a cultural hub in Europe thanks to its summer festivals, which just seem to grow each year. Music, stage arts, cinema, there is something for everyone in summer, including some of the biggest names of the international arts scene. Catalonia, country of festivals, as it was presented by the Generalitat at the beginning of summer, also benefits from its status as a top cultural destination thanks to the boost to the Catalan economy. This year, the Cap Roig and Peralada festivals on Costa Brava will once again attract thousands of visiting music lovers of every stripe, from opera and classical enthusiasts drawn to Peralda, to Lady Gaga fans at Cap Roig, while El Grec in Barcelona will offer the best in theatre and music. You can find out more about the summer festivals in this issue, as well as recommendations for itineraries and walking tours in exceptional nearby beauty spots. It is an excellent opportunity to discover more of the country through it culture and landscape. Not to forget the gastronomy, especially now that Catalan cuisine is again on top with the success of Celler de Can Roca, which has followed in the steps of El Bulli restaurant. In short a constellation of Michelin stars unmatched anywhere. Is there a better place to spend the summer?
